This traditionally furnished family home is well decorated with many antiques and original paintings throughout. The hostess is a portrait painter with impeccable taste which is reflected in her home. She is the daughter of a Spanish Marchioness & Count, whose forefather was "Ponce de Leon" who conquered Florida in the 16th century. A warm & welcoming person, your hostess speaks a little English and is glad to be of help whether it be giving directions and bus information or just suggesting a good restaurant for dinner. Near to the home you’ll find several good restaurants and tapas bars. One worth mentioning is "La Dorada" that specializes in fish baked in sea salt.
Just a short cab ride down the Castellana you’ll find the many terrazas that line the boulevard. On warm evenings you can sit at these outdoor cafes, listen to music, have a drink and people watch. At the end of a busy day you can retire to your 6th floor accommodation where you’ll find a double room with 2 twin beds well decorated and appointed for your comfort. You have a fully private bathroom with shower and tub for your use. From the guest room you have a wonderful view of the Guadarrama Mountain Range. You are welcome to relax in the family lounge with TV. In the morning breakfast is served in the sunny dining room. Plaza Castilla offers guests easy access to all parts of Madrid. Via metro you can go 2 stops to Lima where you’ll find the Bernabeu Stadium, Palacio de Congresos Convention Center. One more stop to Nuevos Ministerios is where you’ll find El Cortes Ingles, Spain’s largest and most complete department store. Line 1 metro take you to Cuatro Caminos where you’ll find tons of bargains on shoes, clothing, electronics and jewelry. Door after door of shops line the street. But the best reason to go is to visit Madrid’s oldest & largest food market – "Maravillas" – where the shop-keeps have carried down family traditions. While you’re there, try the jamón serrano or the lacón.
